The Nutcracker
This is one of the most popular ballets and is widely performed,
usually around Christmas time. Marius Petipa wrote the ballet, based
on ETA Hoffmann's German tale, which consists of two acts - the
'real world' and the 'magical world'. First performed in 1892.

Sleeping Beauty
The ballet is based on the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault.
It has three acts, choreographed by Marius Petipa, music by Tchaikosky
and was first premiered in 1892.
This is a story of three stages of a young princess's life - young
and carefree, becoming a young woman and then marriage, and the
light and dark forces that affect her. The Lilac fairy represent
good and 'Carabosse', the wicked fairy, represents evil.

| Classic tale of a fairy godmother,
a glass slipper and a handsome prince. Choreography by Frederick Ashton
with score by Sergei Prokofiev. First premiered in 1948 and was the
first Engligh ballet to use Prokofiev's score. Slight variations to
the traditional tale, the stepmother doesn't appear, the Fairy Godmother
brings the Fairies of the Four Seasons to dance for Cinderella before
she sets off for the ball. |

romantic ballet has two acts. The love of dance unites Giselle and
Albrecht, but the peasant girl is driven to kill herself when she
